Work & Plants

It has definitely been a while since I've posted anything here. Work has been keeping me quite busy lately and I've been learning new things here and there. Sometimes items build up and I utilize my break time to improve myself. So I need to start thinking about myself and ways to put in self-care time. Being busy is a huge reminder to relax my mind a little and make room for meditation. And it's also a huge reminder to enjoy the little things that bring joy to my mental health.

So here are some photos of my beloved plants. I forgot what the purple one is called, but I've had them for almost a year already when I started my new position at the same workplace. They were supposed to be for my cubicle to keep me company, but I brought them home when the stay-at-home order took place. My mom loves to water my plant babies and my kids are gentle with them lol. And I honestly want to get more plants, specifically peperomias because they are my favorite!

We also have a flower and another plant in the living room: sampaguita and fortune plant. The sampaguita is our national flower and it has a wonderful aroma. My dad brought home the fortune plant, which has been with us for about 25 years now, and at one point my mom had to shorten it somehow after it reached the ceiling.

In the summer when dad was still around, we would leave the plant outside our front porch and it did well. But ever since he passed, it would appear sullen and slumped down when left outside during the warm seasons. Mom said that the plant didn’t like being outdoors and wanted to stay inside with us; so we’ve kept it indoors and it’s been looking healthy again. Even though he’s been gone for a little over 15 years, I still feel his presence. I guess it’s just another way of him looking out for us in the form of the plant.
